With a love of engineering and a dream of one day becoming a pilot, accounting seemed a very different career choice for Binode but one he never regretted.
“After I graduated from college, I got a temporary job at the University of the West Indies as an accounting assistant. This is when I started pursuing my ACCA Qualification. I continued working at the university until I became qualified. At that point, I felt that I had to develop my career and took the decision to move to EY back in 2007.”
“It was hard work but very fulfilling. Over the last eight years I have been promoted through the ranks to my current position, senior manager, advisory services. Working at EY has totally changed my life. Professionally, I am the person I am today because of the people that I had the opportunity to work with and the experiences I was exposed to on the job.
Coaching and mentoring are parts of the job Binode loves and what brings him the greatest satisfaction. “Assisting people to overcome challenges faced in their work environment, interacting with clients from a variety of industries and helping with the coaching and development of my co-workers all give me a sense of deep fulfilment."
Binode keeps aiming for the top. “In terms of professional development in the next few years I would like to see continued growth in my career and to be recognised in my field.”
If he could sum up success in three words they would be; fulfilment, respect, loyalty.
