When I left university in 2010, I was still undecided on a career path. In fact, it took a series of other jobs before I realised that accountancy was the profession I wanted to pursue.
Initially, I began working in merchandising, and was promoted to the role of Assistant Merchandiser. It was in this role that I began forecasting, budgeting and reporting financials to the team and senior management. I found myself wanting to learn more about the techniques I was using and what other methods could be used. My research led me to accountancy.
I quickly found that not only does accountancy offer excellent job prospects and financial security, it also offers variety. There is also the opportunity to continually grow and develop.
I chose ACCA because I knew I wanted to work within business, and the flexibility and broad range of subjects appealed to me. The ACCA Qualification is portable and valued by employers across all business sectors. I also wanted a professional qualification that is recognised and highly regarded globally so I have the opportunity to work internationally.
I’m proud to be an ACCA student because I’m working towards becoming a member of a globally respected accountancy body. I can’t wait to become a member.
