Every year we run partner with the TARGETjobs Undergraduate of the Year awards in the Future CFO category. It attracts a lot of high calibre undergraduates with the vital qualities, confidence and ambition needed in a CFO.

This year’s winner was Ekaterina (Kati) Christova, a University of Cambridge student. Her prize was an exciting trip to New York and Washington with a jam-packed agenda that included visits to US universities with the ACCA team, networking with high profile ACCA members and attending Crain’s 50 most powerful women in New York luncheon as well as a Chamber of Commerce Yacht Reception.

Kati recalls her amazing experiences and highlights. Her trip started with four days of sightseeing, including the Statue of Liberty and taking in the stunning views of New York from Brooklyn Bridge, Rockefeller Centre and Empire State building.

Meeting ACCA USA

Kati met with head of ACCA USA, Warner Johnston, and the rest of the team learning about the market, challenges they face and new projects they are working on. She was really interested in their plans to bring on more ACCA students in the US - a tough market.

The highlights of the agenda were the two events Kati attended: Professional Insights roundtable, which discussed ‘G20-Tax’ and Crain’s 50 most powerful women in New York luncheon. The roundtable gave her the opportunity to understand the topic in-depth and listen to distinguished professionals discuss their findings. The luncheon was a lavish event held in a stunning venue and she felt a great sense of pride to be involved in an event with such inspiring women and talent and the networking opportunity it provided. She particularly enjoyed the panel discussing power, ‘having it all’ and work-life balance.

Overall, Kati loved the opportunity to meet inspiring people, attending great events and seeing first-hand the finance and accounting industry, what ACCA does and how hard people work to make it all happen!
